Simon Edwards Stunning album. Thought the previous ones were okay, but this is a huge step up in song-writing, musicianship and vocals. Fantastic!

rex-the-younger As with previous releases this is a solid album from start to finish which continues the storyline, themes and signatures perfectly.

'Enigma' and 'Another Same' are on par with or superior to many commercial offerings by established prog artists.

The Waters, Wilson and Hayward influences shine through once more but I also hear song writing very much in the style of Difford and Tilbrook, 'Trough of War' & 'Another Same' probably being the best examples.

These chaps are the real deal!
Favorite track: Enigma.

musichog I just lucked upon this album a few days ago. A child of the 70’s, rediscovering my love of prog, I was desperate for some new sounds. My love was reborn recently at a Lifesigns gig. Thanks guys. This album is a continuation of that journey, it is gorgeous and confirms everything I love about prog, diversity, lyrical, musicianship and I love it. I simply have not listened to an album as many times in so short a time since the 70’s. Favorite track: Enigma.

Fall 01:55
When they fall, when they fall The hand they reach for is a world away Head in hands, head in the sand As we're waiting for the rain again There were lines in the sand that would never hold There were grains of a truth that was never told The storm on the horizon will take it's toll As it rolls through a sea of stolen souls

Silent Code 07:19
The nights are longer now the dreams are just the same So begins another day And though we feel alive with every waking hour Something died along the way Robbed of innocence stripped of liberty Though our hearts were open wide While her sails are furled the ship will never sail She’s only drifting on the tide We live by the silent code Nobody wants to hear, no one would understand We walk a dark lonely road No destination, we have no map to scan We hoped the past could be erased without a trace We sailed into the setting sun When I found you barely recognized my face The end had only just begun We live by the silent code Nobody wants to hear, no one would understand We walk a dark lonely road We have no guiding star, we have no masterplan You’ve been away so long, we know you’ve suffered and we’ll Bring you back where you all belong But when you get back home you mustn’t talk about it That would be best for everyone Rediscovered lives, undiscovered futures Retracing footsteps one step at a time Undiscovered fears, unfamiliar faces An unfamiliar road, bare the heavy load We live by the silent code Nobody wants to hear, no one would understand We walk a dark lonely road We have no guiding star, we have no map to scan

Born to a stonemason 1904 My father’s apprentice after the war He taught me my trade and to start where I stand I know Portland stone like the back of my hand The carbon tip’s sharpened the blades are honed We’re unified by the peace of stone Scratching the surface Names in the stone Waving him off down the road from the door Desperate to follow my Father to war I read his smile as the pride for his son But he was just thankful that I was too young And I see that look in his eyes again Where memories break free and they rise again Breaking the surface To be carried like dust on a cruel breeze Float like the wreckage on merciless seas Cut like the letters that spell out the names in the stone Safe behind borders our flags are unfurled And mark out the still point of each turning world Poets united in unrestrained verse The truth is uncovered for better or worse As the tip of the iceberg deceives the eye It’s the love of a Mother that sees the lie Under the surface Carried like dust on a cruel breeze Float like the wreckage on merciless seas Cut like the letters that spell out the names in the stone As the tip of the iceberg deceives the eye It’s the love of a Mother that sees the lie Summoned on Sunday the toll of the bell The constant reminder of all those that fell Some finding solace some finding faith Others stay silent renouncing their faith

Toll 03:02
Some are here for comfort Some are here to pray Some are here for answers And I picture how it all would change if this was where the hell came raining

Playing God 05:04
I’ve got you in my sites I play my cross over your heart Something in your face tells me that I’m no master of this art A conversation I imagine we might have is in my head Have I been walking in my sleep have I been playing dead or Playing God While the ashes of our former lives are blowing in the wind We forgive ourselves and justify the actions of our sins I sometimes wonder if they’d stop the slaughter even if they could And pray to some kind of imagined saviour of the good while playing God On the other side of every story sits another truth Safely out of site behind a wall of fear As we listened and obeyed and saw their gospel as the proof All we heard was what they wanted us to hear Safe as anyone if I don’t give myself away From up here I am the master of all I survey The open hearts that lead us to truth are in too short supply to waste It’s never too late to retract that declaration that you made in haste Such a bitter taste And I see it on the face of every last man here And I see it through the lens that makes it all so clear Another snap shot for the eyes to process and the mind to file away And every picture that invades our memory is all we take away So much black on grey, time to walk away
6.
Exit Wound 05:38
I’ve been so far away will I still find my way back home? I walked this path with heart but now the cracks are starting to show I’m coming back to life but I don’t feel I’m coming home I left the war behind now there’s another of my own My system’s not immune to this depth of exit wound All I wanted was to shield and protect you from Everything I’ve seen everything I’ve done Bring an end to the war that could never be won That could never be won Let it go They say it like I could just let it go Let it fall They say it like I could just let it fall Understand This heavy weight I carry could bring me down Face the pain What makes you assume that I could visit that again? Let it go...

Enigma 08:02
Though you may be out of range The stroke of midnight hits you every time The extra mile that makes the change That’s where your history will be defined Build a bombe and crack the code Save the world and bare the load Step by step you walk the road A heart of gold a brilliant mind So far ahead of your own time Frame by frame you broke the code Finding faith to make the leap The secrets you were made to keep So your truth would always be denied On the basis of the facts Logic falls between the cracks As their fear and prejudice collide Build a bombe and crack the code Save the world and bare the load Step by step you walk the road A heart of gold a brilliant mind Way ahead of your own time Frame by frame you broke the code Step by step you walk the road While the world is turning as the minutes and the hours unwind Every day the weight is baring down results return as undefined Crack the code you lift the load, the breaking of the tidal wave Step by step you walked the road betrayed by those you helped to save Though you may be out of range You could see what no-one else could see You gave yourself to make the change You’re the ghost inside the war machine

Stood like pieces on a chess board waiting for the next move Across the board another space another way to get through And so I wonder how could I compare this to a game When I’m just hoping that that bullet doesn’t find it’s aim Behind unopened doors the lines are drawn Rules of engagement are defined Castled kings are stood behind the pawns Safe behind unopen lines this is the middle game Another move another sacrifice to gain the ground The common aim the sole design to take the other down And still I wonder how could I compare this to a game And we’re just hoping that we make it through into the end game Behind unopened doors the lines are drawn Rules of engagement are defined Castled kings are stood behind the pawns Safe behind unopen lines this is the middle game Stood like pieces on a chess board waiting for the next move Across the board another space another way to get through I’m just hoping that that bullet doesn’t find it’s aim We’re just hoping that we make it through into the end game Stood like pieces on a chess board waiting for the next move Across the board another space another way to get through And so I wonder how could I compare this to a game When I’m just hoping that that bullet doesn’t find it’s aim Behind unopened doors the lines are drawn Rules of engagement are defined Castled kings are stood behind the pawns Safe behind unopen lines Behind unopened doors the lines are drawn Rules of engagement are defined Castled kings are stood behind the pawns Safe behind unopen lines This is the middle game

How do you manage to convince yourself That what you’re doing isn’t wrong? Who’re you serving who’re you working for? One for all or all for one? Roads to be laid Faith to be swayed Pawns to be played Money to be made For better or for worse Your profit will come first Sharks are swimming in these waters They bleed the rivers of the poor The rats will jump the ship that’s sinking Feeding on the trough of war So are you driven by compassion? Or is it power that you crave? Does your devil take the hindmost Is it to greed that you’re the slave? Careers to be made Opinions to be swayed Debts to be paid Bodies to be laid For better or for worse Your profit will come first Sharks are swimming in these waters They bleed the rivers of the poor The rats will jump the ship that’s sinking Feeding on the trough of war Sharks are swimming in these waters They bleed the rivers of the poor The rats will jump the ship that’s sinking Feeding on the trough of war

It’s tyres touch the tarmac at 08:00 GMT His tour of duty over, home again finally Summer rain dilutes the tear drops from his friends and family Strangers line the High Street to mourn his loss collectively His hopes and aspirations snuffed out electronically This Nineteen year old hero, a fight for freedom he’ll never see

Another Same 03:32
A fixed gaze on a new seduction Closed eyes invite my own destruction I‘m afraid of the consequences I’ll be governed by my own defences Another eye another tooth The same measure of another truth That doesn’t fit the living proof Another seed is sown I’ll be glad when it’s all over And this devil’s off my shoulder Same screen same hollow smile Another street, another murder mile Same face another cheek Same blow to the minds too weak to care….anymore Like the boy in the photograph The only one who ever came back To all the mothers who were dressed in black Another seed is sown I’ll be glad when it’s all over And this Devil’s off my shoulder I’ll be glad when it’s all over And this Devil’s off my shoulder

October 05:43
Brought to their knees they were cut to the core Back from the lines to a home that was weary of war Fear was defined on the faces they met Racked with the memories they desperately tried to forget You were deceived by the hand you’d been dealt Wrapped in the arms of the power you held You clutched the straws of your truth as your Babylon fell You had your time your war was over Another world beyond October It was clear once the rain had lifted How the lines on the map had shifted The ebb and flow of the souls betrayed Line after line of the memories laid Could this be just another chapter Lost to time and the history writers Simplified in black and white Another seed is sown….. Like the boy in the photograph The only one who ever came back To all the Mothers who were dressed in black Another seed is sown I’ll be glad when it’s all over And this devil’s off my shoulder
